UNITED SIKHS launches a FREE Health and Medical Camp in Panjab Border Village

Gurdaspur, Panjab: UNITED SIKHS saw the urgent need for medical and health services for villagers who have not seen a doctor for many years. Due to tensions at border area districts in Gurdaspur and Taran Tarn in October 2016 many villagers at evacuation camps have neglected their health, this caused major concern to our volunteers who visited the villagers.

With the support from the President of Gurdwara Tahli Sahib and members of the Gurdwara Sahib a historical Gurdwara in village Gahlri, in the border area of Gurdaspur. UNITED SIKHS volunteers launched its first free health and medical Camp on August 27th 2017.

We would like to thank - Dr. Rajesh Kashyap - ENT Specialist, Dr. Harjit Singh - Ayurvedic Doctor and Dr. S.P. Singh - Dental Surgeon, who in support of the needy, provided their voluntary services and UNITED SIKHS provided medicines free of cost. "We felt very happy to serve the needy at Gurdaspur. Overall, the organization was satisfactory. We shall make things better in the upcoming camps with treatments to make the patients feel comfortable" said Dr. Rajesh Kasyap, the Medical In-charge of the camp.

"We have had a very successful medical camp, 164 patients registered and received treatment, and we hope to run this camp every month, if the demand continues" said Karambir Singh, UNITED SIKHS Gurdaspur Camp Co-ordinator.

Since 1999, UNITED SIKHS has been conducting Health and Medical camps which are now run at the places of disaster and need in various countries, with our continuing mission to transform and uplift underprivileged communities.

If you are a doctor and would like to volunteer at our medical camp please join UNITED SIKHS or if you are able to make a monetary donation to provide medication to those less fortunate please donate.
