UNITED SIKHS AID Hurricane Ike – 2008

On September 13th Hurricane Ike made its final landfall in Texas, as a Category 2 hurricane. Ike killed 32 people in TX and 67 nationwide. The 600-miles wide storm damaged thousands of homes and made millions homeless in Texas’ gulf coast.

Homes were splinted and hotels, gas station, business were washed away in Galveston. Ike obliterated the Bolivar Peninsula. The storm flooded the region and damaged homes in Houston.

A massive effort is under way across TX to help the evacuees with food and supplies. Over 2 millions are left without power. While State and Federal agencies are working towards helping people in need UNITED SIKHS will continue to assess the situation and provided much needed assistance and relief in Galveston.
