UNITED SIKHS promotes awareness and gives a voice to the millions of Sikhs around the world facing adversity through the annual Global Sikh Civil Rights Report. Beginning in 2008, UNITED SIKHS began to conduct global conferences and also to research and publish the Global Sikh Civil Rights Report in order to capture a glimpse of the many injustices affecting the global Sikh community every year. These reports facilitate resolutions to various pressing issues currently facing the global Sikh community. The Global Sikh Civil Rights Conference is where Sikh Human Rights Activists, Judges, Lawyers, Human Development experts and other NGO’s meet together to discuss the global issues impacting the Sikh community. The Global Sikh Civil Rights report, which is published annually, contains in depth articles which focus on the work of the organization and current affairs surrounding the global Sikh community. The report documents the work of various individuals and conveys their thoughts and opinions concerning the myriad of issues which continue to plague the global Sikh community. The Global Conference and the report provide an avenue in which active members of the global Sikh community can voice their opinions on current practices, future policies and overall state of affairs of human and civil rights of Sikhs in the world. The report represents an amalgamation of human rights reports and survey data collected from Sikhs worldwide, and is put together by a team of lawyers, activists, academics and civil rights experts. The report provides insight into the plight of the global Sikh community by offering information about Sikh communities across the globe. Such information is obtained from data gathered from various surveys, which are conducted in 17 countries. For instance, in the 2008 Global Report, Sikhs around the world weighed in on issues of hate crimes, xenophobia, current policies and practices toward minority communities, and the particular challenges of the global Sikh community. Information plays a pivotal role in the fight against injustice and oppression. This annual report is key in connecting individuals and creating a network which is aimed at eradicating discrimination, violations of human rights, civil rights abuses and inequality. Injustice anywhere, against anyone, poses a threat to the goal of true equality for all. By using this research to expose injustice, UNITED SIKHS aims to educate and unite the human race under one common goal: finding harmony through solidarity.
