We are pleased to announce that after 6 months and 10,000 hours of intense legal advocacy by UNITED SIKHS International Civil and Human Rights Advocacy team, we have secured asylum for 141 preselected Afghan minority refugees displaced by the conflict in Afghanistan.

The herculean task to find a safe permanent home for Afghan refugees led us to conversations with representatives from over 35 countries across 5 continents. The government of Mexico has agreed to offer asylum to Afghan minority refugees (Sikhs & Hindus) on humanitarian grounds. A pilot group of Afghan refugees arrived in Mexico City in February 2022.

We are now robustly working to bring the next monthly group of refugees to Mexico by mid March 2022.

Your donations will help with the following critical costs:
Travel costs for each refugee are at approximately $2000. Most countries do not allow these refugees to even pass through their airports on their way to Mexico. This leaves very few options for us to plan a safe itinerary.
The costs for resettling each refugee in Mexico is $3000 including lodging, food, language and vocational training.
We are setting up a helpdesk in Mexico with 2 Full-time UNITED SIKHS Resettlement Officers supporting the needs of new refugees.
We are renting and setting up a refugee home and other unmet needs for the next groups of refugees arriving in Mexico.
100,000 USD can help resettle 20 refugees in Mexico. We need your urgent support to make sure all 141 refugees are resettled safely and securely in Mexico.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for being part of the Afghan Refugee Resettlement Mission.
