UNITED SIKHS expresses serious concern over the findings of the 2025 FBI Hate Crime Report, which documents a disturbing rise in hate crimes nationwide. While the report notes an overall decline in certain categories, it reveals a sharp escalation in anti‑Sikh hate crime incidents, underscoring the urgent need for stronger protections and accountability.

According to the FBI Report, there were 177 reported anti‑Sikh hate crime incidents in 2025, compared to 142 in 2024. This represents a 24.% increase compared to the previous year, making Sikhs one of the most targeted religious groups in the United States. Religious bias accounted for 2,703 single‑bias offenses, with Sikhs comprising seven percent of these cases. These numbers highlight the disproportionate vulnerability of Sikh Americans and the persistence of bias‑motivated violence.

Behind these numbers are real people – Sikh Americans face discrimination, harassment, and violence simply for practicing their faith.
