UNITED SIKHS Stands in Solidarity with Hindu Community Following Alleged Temple Shooting Plot in Illinois

No one should have to fear violence in a place of worship.

UNITED SIKHS stands in solidarity with the Hindu community following reports on October 15, 2026, of an alleged mass shooting plot targeting a Hindu temple in Aurora, Illinois. Authorities arrested a 19-year-old suspect after receiving information about an

alleged plan involving a Hindu place of worship, helping prevent what could have been a tragic act of violence.

The reported allegations, which include threats directed at members of the Indian and South Asian communities, are deeply disturbing and serve as a reminder of the dangers posed by hatred, intolerance, and extremist ideologies.

UNITED SIKHS  condemns religious hatred, threats of violence, and extremism in all forms. Every person, regardless of faith, ethnicity, or background, deserves the freedom to worship safely and without fear.

Places of worship are sanctuaries for prayer, reflection, and community. An attack or threat against one faith community is an attack on the fundamental rights and freedoms of us all. In moments like these, we must stand together across religious and cultural lines, reject hate, and reaffirm our shared commitment to protecting human dignity and religious liberty.

Religious freedom belongs to everyone. Protecting it is a responsibility we all share.
