UNITED SIKHS Australia Joins Faith Leaders in Advancing Peace and Human Solidarity

Parramatta, NSW | November 2026

UNITED SIKHS Australia is honoured to represent the Sikh community at the 40th Anniversary Commemoration of the historic 1986 Assisi Multifaith Gathering for World Peace, organised by the Interfaith Commission of the Diocese of Parramatta and held at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta on October 27, 2026.

Held under the theme “Unarmed and Disarming Peace,” the gathering brought together faith leaders and representatives from Christian, Sikh, Bahá’í, Muslim and Jewish communities, together with an Indigenous cultural performance, to promote peace, mutual understanding and interfaith solidarity.

Representing UNITED SIKHS Australia, Randeep Singh Grewal delivered the introductory address, highlighting the teachings of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, particularly the message:

“Na Ko Bairi, Nahi Begana” – “No one is my enemy; no one is a stranger.”

He emphasised that lasting peace begins within each individual through the rejection of hatred, prejudice and division, and through recognising the shared humanity that connects us all.

The Sikh presentation, “Kirtan for Humanity,” featured sacred Gurbani Kirtan performed by Bhai Tejinder Singh and Bhai Amar Singh, with Randeep Singh Grewal and Gurpreet Singh providing additional vocal support. The presentation continued with a moving musical reflection by Bhai Gurpreet Singh, before concluding with a Prayer for humanity led by Bhai Jatinder Singh of Samvaad-e-Sikhi. Together, the presentation reflected the Sikh principle of Sarbat da Bhala — the well-being of all.

The event provided a meaningful opportunity to share Sikh spiritual traditions while reinforcing the importance of interfaith dialogue and cooperation in building a more peaceful, inclusive and compassionate society.

UNITED SIKHS Australia extends its sincere appreciation to the Diocese of Parramatta, its Interfaith Commission, Chair Kate Xavier, the organisers, participating faith communities, and all those who contributed to this significant commemoration of peace, dialogue and unity.
