On Mother’s Day: A tribute to Sikh mothers

QUEENS, NEW YORK

This Mother’s Day, UNITED SIKHS extends our deepest gratitude and respect to mothers around the world, with a special salute to Sikh mothers who continue to be the backbone of our families and nation. Their commitment and spirit have been instrumental in our ongoing struggle for dignity, equality, and justice.

Sikh mothers have played a pivotal role in our history and in the shaping of the Sikh nation. They are educators of faith and culture, warriors for social justice, and exemplars of selfless service. Through their teachings and example, Sikh mothers instill the values of courage, compassion, and seva (selfless service) into the next generation, ensuring that the fight for human dignity is carried forward with both wisdom and passion.

“On this day we honor the mother of the Khalsa, Mata Sahib Kaur, who holds an honored place in Sikh history. Her life full of devotion, compassion and leadership is an inspiring evidence to the spirit of Sikhism” reminded Inderjeet Singh, Executive Manager of UNITED SIKHS’ Education and Outreach.

In addition to nurturing our families, Sikh mothers have been at the forefront of UNITED SIKHS’ global humanitarian missions. Their unbridled role in our organization embodies the true spirit of humanitarianism, which is central to Sikh principles. “From high level leadership role to providing disaster relief to advocating for human rights, our contributions transcend borders and barriers, bringing hope and help to those in need,” Bhupinder Kaur, Executive Manager of UNITED SIKHS’ UMEED national helpline said.
