London, UK: Mudhsuden Singh, affectionately known as Monty Panesar, has made cricket a fashionable sport for today’s youth and the successful spinner is now in the running for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2006, so long as members of the general public nominate him before Wednesday 15th November 2006. Vote for him on the BBC Sport website (link above) and entering his name and your e mail address. You can only nominate once.
Monty stormed into the hearts of the British public and ethnic minorities across the world earlier this year as he showed off his bowling skills in the tests against Pakistan. Following this success, he has become a role model for thousands of young Sikhs as well as budding cricketers showing that his beliefs and his love for sport can co-exist without compromise. His skills as a bowler meant even those who do not share his Sikh beliefs were impressed by his outstanding ability.
Monty has brought in a new audience and a fresh passion to the sport of cricket and it is now time to recognise his achievements by voting him to be nominated as the 2006 BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
Nominate before Wednesday 15th November, by entering his name and your e mail address here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/tv_and_radio/
