“An Answered Prayer”: UNITED SIKHS Brings Hope to Texas Flood Victims
Kerr County, Texas – On the fifth day of our humanitarian relief mission, the UNITED
SIKHS team brought more than just supplies to the flood-ravaged communities of
Texas — we brought hope, compassion, and what some called, divine intervention.
As floodwaters continue to recede across the Texas Hill Country, the devastation left behind has displaced hundreds and strained local shelters and aid centers. Among those working tirelessly to support the affected is the Hunt United Methodist Church which is serving as a makeshift relief center, a hub of refuge and resilience. On Tuesday morning, the center received a visit from the UNITED SIKHS disaster relief team, who arrived bearing hot meals, non-perishable food, clothes, cleaning supplies, medical kits, hygiene essentials—and milk.
What happened next moved hearts.
“This Is Divine Intervention”
Ms. Susie, a volunteer coordinator at the Hunt United Methodist Church, shared a moment that she says she’ll never forget. “Just two minutes before the UNITED SIKHS team arrived, a young mother came up to me and asked, ‘Do you have any milk for my baby?’ I looked around, and we had none. I felt helpless.”
Then, as if on cue, the UNITED SIKHS team pulled up. Among the supplies they carried was exactly what was needed—milk.
“It was truly amazing!” Ms. Susie said, “It was as if God heard that mother’s plea and sent these angels right to our doorstep. The UNITED SIKHS team is an answered prayer.”

The visit to the Hunt United Methodist Church is part of a broader mission led by UNITED SIKHS, a global humanitarian organization rooted in the Sikh principle of seva—selfless service. Since the beginning of the crisis, our volunteers have been working around the clock, distributing food, medicine, and essentials to shelters, veteran camps, and churches and Red Cross stations throughout Kerr County and beyond.

Our International Humanitarian Aid Director Gurvinder Singh reflected on the moment: “We don’t always know what people need until we arrive—but somehow, the right things find their way into our hands. That’s the spirit of seva. We’re blessed to simply be the instruments of service.”
The flash floods, triggered by unprecedented rainfall, have left entire communities submerged and grieving. Yet amid the chaos, stories like Ms. Susie’s remind us that humanity shines brightest in the darkest hours.
In a time of loss and uncertainty, the arrival of milk for a baby became a symbol of something greater—a reminder that kindness, faith, and community can still move mountains.
UNITED SIKHS believe that the mission is not just about the supplies — it’s about showing up, listening and letting the people know they’re not alone.
