Dear Friends,
Hope this email finds you well. I find great pleasure in thanking all of you on behalf of UNITED SIKHS for extending your support to empower and assisting in the UN’s sustainable development goals (SDGs) focused on the underprivileged throughout the world.
As per the 2nd SDG, a profound change of the global food and agriculture system is needed if we are to nourish today’s 795 million hungry and the additional 2 billion people expected by 2050.
Right now, our soils, freshwater, oceans, forests and biodiversity are being rapidly degraded. Climate change is putting even more pressure on the resources we depend on, increasing risks associated with disasters such as droughts and floods. Many rural women and men can no longer make ends meet on their land, forcing them to migrate to cities in search of opportunities. As per the UN, the food and agriculture sector offers key solutions for development, and is central for hunger and poverty eradication. At UNITED SIKHS, we provide those impacted by the disasters with food, medicines, proper clothing, constructing shelter homes, conducting educational workshops with mental health and hygiene, setting an academy for the youth to train them to become activists and defined the civil and human rights of the voiceless. The food and agriculture sector offers key solutions for development, and is central for hunger and poverty eradication.
We receive at an average of more than 65 requests for assistance per month. With your support today our response rate is 100%. To keep this going, we need now an additional $76,000.00 to meet our budget for the year of 2017. Some of the requests received recently have been to expand on our drug-de-addiction programs, set up a gymnasium for better health and a legal center that in addition to civil and human and rights also handles immigration, contracts and in areas of family law. With your support today, UNITED SIKHS budget for the year 2016 was 1,136,974.
We are humbled and even more determined because of your donations. Your support helps us fight for our identity, face bullying and allows us to challenge profiling and hate crimes. It helps feed the hungry and provide for victims of manmade and natural disasters. Thank you again for your compassionate support.
Give your 100% tax-deductible donation today to support needy.
