Every First and Third Thursday of the Month
Hunger is not always visible, but it is deeply felt. In cities as resource-rich as New York and across communities in Canada, many individuals and families continue to struggle with food insecurity, uncertain about where their next meal will come from. At UNITED SIKHS, we believe that access to food is not charity—it is a basic human right rooted in dignity, compassion, and shared humanity.
To respond to this need, UNITED SIKHS organizes Food Distribution Drives every first and third Thursday of each month in New York and Canada, guided by the Sikh principle of seva (selfless service) and the global initiative Feed the Hungry.

Each food drive brings together volunteers from diverse backgrounds who come with a single purpose: to serve with humility and care. Warm, freshly prepared, nourishing meals are distributed to members of the community who need them most—individuals experiencing homelessness, low-income families, elderly community members, and others facing food insecurity.

These drives are not just about providing meals. They are about presence, respect, and human connection. Every plate served carries more than food. It carries compassion, dignity, and the reassurance that someone cares. It is a quiet reminder that no one should feel unseen, unheard, or forgotten.
The atmosphere during each drive reflects this spirit. Volunteers greet community members with warmth, patience, and understanding. Conversations are shared alongside meals, restoring a sense of belonging that hunger often erodes. For many, this simple act of being welcomed with kindness is as meaningful as the food itself.
As communities, we are strongest when we uplift one another. Together, we can reach more lives—one meal, one moment of compassion at a time.

We invite you to support the Feed the Hungry program and be part of this ongoing journey of service. Your support helps ensure that warm meals, dignity, and hope continue to reach those who need them most, every first and third Thursday, month after month.
