New Delhi: Participants of The Learning Values Series, an initiative by UNITED SIKHS, heard IIT Gold Medalist, Manpreet Singh from Mumbai, talk about management values amongst students and “seeing oneness in all” from 20th to 22nd August 08.
The three workshops for students were held at different locations to cover the wider demography of Delhi. The first workshop held at the GTBIT engineering college had an overwhelming attendance. “I am glad at the initiative of UNITED SIKHS and look forward to more of these workshops in the college,” said Dr. Kuldeep Singh, Director of the Institute. A conscious decision was taken by the UNITED SIKHS team to begin all workshops with a 10 minute-simran (meditation) session followed by an interactive session. The power point presentation by Manpreet Singh on management values ran into almost 130 slides articulating leadership skills, motivational skills, sales skills and finally health and stress free living. The overwhelming response in the interactive session had to be curtailed in view of time constraints

The other two workshops held on 22nd and 23rd August at GHP School, Vasant Vihar and GHP School India Gate were aimed at class X students and the theme was, “seeing oneness in all”. With more than 100 slides, the presentation laid emphasis on the importance of respecting the teachers and elders. There was a volley of questions including, “Ishmeet Singh (a celebrity Sikh role model) used to sing and you said we should do ‘path puja’, so why do u ask us to be like him?”, “Should we all keep a Kirpan (a Sikh article of faith resembling a blade) to defend ourselves?”, “You said Ninda nahi karni,( do not badmouth others), how do we control as its human nature?”.
“I am glad to have Manpreet Singh ji with us to guide our students and would request the UNITED SIKHS team to do at least one workshop every month in our school”, said S. S. Minhas, Principal of the school. Issued By:
