Tacloban, Philippines – Philippines President Benigno Aquino has declared a state of national calamity to ignite immediate relief efforts for victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Typhoon Haiyan will go down in history as one of the most powerful storms to impact the island nation. Over 11 million affected by the storm. Thousands feared dead. Over 673,000 left homeless. UNITED SIKHS has initiated our Philippines Relief Effort and is working to gather resources and build a team of volunteers, including medical professionals, to send to the Philippines.
“The priority right now is safety of survivors. During this stage, it is critical to supply food, water and emergency supplies to survivors. After, the priority will shift to restoring critical services,” said Gurvinder Singh, UNITED SIKHS Aid Director. “We need your help now.”
