ICHRA Leads the Fight Against Hate Crimes on International Human Rights Day 2023

NEW YORK CITY, December 10

UNITED SIKHS International Civil and Human Rights Advocacy (ICHRA) proudly highlighted this year’s International Human Rights Day with events focusing on combating hate crimes and championing justice, dignity, and equality for all.

The theme for this year, “Building Back Better: Stand Up for Human Rights,” deeply resonates with ICHRA’s core values, underlining its ongoing efforts to protect and promote the rights of individuals globally. Reflecting on both progress and persistent challenges, ICHRA emphasizes the critical role of collective action in forging a more inclusive and just society for every individual.

Founded on principles of compassion, equality, and justice, UNITED SIKHS’ ICHRA has been a stalwart advocate for the rights of Sikhs and marginalized communities worldwide. In commemorating International Human Rights Day, ICHRA rededicates itself to addressing pressing issues affecting vulnerable populations, committing to eradicating discrimination, violence, and prejudice. Recent months have seen significant strides in raising awareness about hate crimes, with a specific focus on combating the growing tide of transnational repression against Sikhs activists in North America.

Over the years, ICHRA has played a pivotal role in championing causes related to religious freedom, racial equality, gender justice, and humanitarian aid. As we mark this significant day, we renew our dedication to fostering dialogue, raising awareness, and collaborating with like-minded organizations to drive positive change.

To mark International Human Rights Day 2023, ICHRA, alongside other departments, is organizing a series of events aimed at raising awareness about pressing public safety issues. A crucial town hall meeting is scheduled for December 17, 2023, featuring Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr., addressing the urgent need for community safety. Through such initiatives, ICHRA seeks to inspire individuals, communities, and governments to actively contribute to the betterment of public safety for our community, fostering an environment where every person’s rights are respected, protected, and fulfilled.
