Dear New Yorkers,
During these challenging times, it’s very important that all New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status, must know their rights and protections under the law. It is known that ongoing fear-mongering by federal immigration enforcement only increases the public safety and health risks to our communities by keeping people into the shadows and preventing immigrants from reporting crimes and seeking the care they need.
MOIA, and other community partners have developed materials in multiple languages on knowing your rights in an encounter with federal immigration enforcement. They can be found at NYC.gov/KnowYourRights. This page also includes information about ActionNYC, which provides connections to City-funded, free and safe immigration legal help available to all New Yorkers. Immigration status does not matter.
