SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. —

The Sikh Society of Orlando, part of United Sikhs, delivered more than $2,000 worth of food to Seminole High School to help replenish a pantry under pressure.

We saw there are a lot of people who are unemployed. We wanted to donate to the school for the families who are affected, by the COVID-19,” Rajpaul Sodhi said

“It’s absolutely necessary to be able to support all of our children and families here in Seminole County,” Dr. Tina Calderon said.

Even before the coronavirus, there was significant need in the community. The food will make a big impact.

Seminole County schools were thrilled to receive the much needed donation.

“Before this crisis we had nearly 50% of our students on free and reduced lunch, and now I’m sure it’s even higher,” Calderon said.

Sikh members contributed cash and Sam’s Club added some matching money. Nonperishable food items were purchased and delivered to the school.
