Please support Gursewak Singh by donating through UNITED SIKHS or GoFundMe.
Gursewak Singh was born and raised in Japan in the Matsudo-Chiba prefecture, a quiet suburban town east of Tokyo. His parents moved to Japan over 20 years ago to escape religious persecution after Gursewak’s father was falsely accused in a criminal case and tortured by the local police. Now 19 years later he is still identified by the Japanese government as a refugee while repeatedly being denied asylum. Without access to basic needs such as health insurance or a work permit, Gursewak and his parents continue to bear this burden while constantly struggling for justice. As a result, they have never left Japan. Click here to listen to their story.
Bharpoor Singh, Gursewak Singh’s father has been held in detention by immigration officials for over two years now. Without the ability to gain legal employment, the family relies on the generosity of others to sustain. UNITED SIKHS (a UN-affiliated NGO) has been helping the family monetarily for years through the SWAN ( Someone With A Need) project.
Gursewak has hopes of becoming a web developer and with the help of donations has completed his first year in his dream school, the Digital Hollywood University in Japan, which would not have been possible without your support. His first year at Digital Hollywood University cost about 1,000,000 YEN (or $9,000 USD). Now in his second year we need to raise funds of 1,278,000 YEN ( or $11,500 USD). You can support Gursewak by donating through UNITED SIKHS or GoFundMe. UNITED SIKHS will use the donations to support Gursewak’s education. You can make an indelible impact on this family and completely alter their future for the better. Thank you for your consideration.
