California, USA – It’s time to take charge. November 2012 has been declared as California SIkh Awareness Month and now itÕs up to us to create the awareness. UNITED SIKHS in partnership with Not In Our Town (NOIT) has organized a Sikh Youth Voices Promoting Diversity- Video Contest.
The winning video will receive a KIndle Fire and have their video placed on UNITED SIKHS and NIOS websites for use in classrooms across the country and the world. A composite of the videos will be created for use in classrooms. Lesson plans will be designed so classrooms can learn about Sikh culture and discuss making their environment welcoming to Sikhs and all students. We will also include additional extension activities for students to learn more about Sikh culture.
Get in touch with your creative side and bring awareness to help with the fight against bullying.
Your videos can include a monologue, short skits, re-enactments, a rap song , a slide-show, artistic drawings expressing your experience or any other innovative ways you can think of to solve problems. Submissions must be made between November 1st and 30th to qualify.
