February 20th marks the United Nations’ observance of the World Day of Social Justice, a day dedicated to promoting efforts to tackle social injustice worldwide. This year’s theme, “Empowering Inclusion: Bridging Gaps for Social Justice,”aligns deeply with the mission of UNITED SIKHS, a global humanitarian organization committed to advocating for and supporting the human rights of all people, irrespective of religion, race, caste, gender, or nationality.

Recent achievements of the organization proves its commitment to the principles of social justice. These includes:

1. HUMANITARIAN AID:

Support for Los Angeles Wildfire Victims: During the recent wildfires in Los Angeles, UNITED SIKHS provided over 1,300 meals daily, along with hygiene kits and essential supplies. Their Langar initiative, which serves free meals, played a crucial role in supporting displaced residents. This demonstrates their unwavering commitment to humanitarian aid and social justice, ensuring that those affected receive immediate relief and support.

Launched Critical Humanitarian Aid mission for Residents of Ashville, North Carolina: UNITED SIKHS launched a critical humanitarian aid mission to assist the residents of Asheville, North Carolina, following a devastating hurricane that caused severe damage, widespread flooding, landslides, and significant loss of life. Despite the magnitude of the disaster, Asheville remains largely underserved, leaving hundreds of victims in desperate need of assistance.

2. CIVIL AND HUMAN RIGHTS:

Successful exoneration of wrongfully charged Australian Citizens: “For nearly a quarter of a century, UNITED SIKHS has championed the rights of minorities and marginalized communities”, said Dr. Henok Gabisa, Director of UNITED SIKHS ICHRA as he reaffirmed the organization’s unwavering commitment to justice and advocacy following a significant legal victory in Sydney, Australia. Two Sikh Australian youth were exonerated of all charges after being wrongful accusations.

The UK Helpdesk (A Project of United Humanitarian Sikh Aid, a UK initiative of the international organization, UNITED SIKHS) has been a lifeline for individuals facing unimaginable hardships. The UK Helpdesk, which assisted over 700 deportees, is a platform dedicated to supporting individuals in crisis, helping deportees, and facilitating the repatriation of deceased loved ones to their families. UNITED SIKHS provide guidance, logistical support, and above all, hope to those in need.

3.  COMMUNITY EMPOWERMENT AND EDUCATION:

Economic Freedom in Panjab: Through pioneering initiatives like Project Kirti, UNITED SIKHS has been working to advance economic freedom in Panjab, uplifting farmers’ livelihoods and morale.

Mental and Social Support: The UMEED helpline, established by UNITED SIKHS, provides critical mental and social support to individuals in need, ensuring that no one is left without help.
