Cedar Rapids, IOWA– UNITED SIKHS is collecting emergency supplies to dispatch soon to the affected people in Iowa as Cedar Rapids and Iowa City recovers from the recent flood disaster. Flooding put Cedar Rapids and Iowa City under 12 feet of water and forced hundreds to flee their homes on June 12th. Over 4000 homes were ordered to evacuate and hundreds of others were under voluntary evacuation. The families who were most affected by this flooding have worked their whole lives to get where they are and now have to start over. It could take years for the city to recover.
Clean-up process is in progress and more volunteers are required to help out with the cleaning efforts.
UNITED SIKHS command center in Richmond, New York has gathered items such as clothing, canned food, tooth brushes, first aid kits and shoes to ship out to the victims of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. These packed boxed donations will be shipped to the Iowa Gurudwara (Sikh Place of worship) where the UNITED SIKHS Volunteers of Iowa will transport it to local churches.
The victims have been left homeless and without clothing. If you wish to donate to these victims, please send all donations to the UNITED SIKHS COMMAND CENTER in Iowa at Iowa Sikh Association C/O Dilbagh Singh 1115 Walnut Street, West Des Moines, Iowa 50265.

UNITED SIKHS will join other agencies that are already providing relief effort, to support the victims of the flooding in Iowa.
