UNITED SIKHS volunteers of Sri Amritsar Sahib reached out to the site and found that an immediate need of these people was food. The UNITED SIKHS team provided Langar (hot meals) which included rice, dal, vegetables and rotis to 300 people. Our team of volunteers prepared and distributed Langar to these families.
“We talked to the victims to find out their needs and inferred that apart from food, they need wooden planks and bamboos to setup their temporary tents and kitchens. We would also need labour to help them put their shelters back up,” said Harmeet Singh, UNITED SIKHS Project Coordinator.
Today, UNITED SIKHS distributed earthen pots to each of the families so that they store drinking water to beat the scorching heat. Temperatures in Sri Amritsar Sahib around this time of the year can rise up to 48 degrees Celsius. We also provided fruits and bamboos and will continue to help and support the victims until their shelter tents are established.
Any assistance through the UNITED SIKHS is the result of contributions from our generous donors.
