UNITED SIKHS Providing Extensive Aid in Texas Flash Flood Relief Mission

As Texas continues to reel from the devastating flash floods that swept through Kerr County earlier this month, UNITED SIKHS has been at the forefront of humanitarian response, delivering critical aid to thousands of survivors across the region. Following weeks of ground operations, here’s a detailed update on the scale of our outreach program and the impact of its relief efforts.

A Snapshot of Relief in Action

Since launching its mission immediately after the floods, UNITED SIKHS has:

  • Served over 5,000 hot meal trays, prepared daily at the Sikh Center of San Antonio Gurdwara Sahib

Distributed thousands of essential items, including:

  • Work shoes, socks, hygiene kits
  • Diapers, baby formula, wipes, and medicine
  • Water bottles, Liquid IV, energy bars, honey, and noodle cups
  • Pet food and other household necessities

These supplies have reached survivors in shelters, homes, and remote areas, ensuring that no one is left behind.

Widespread Outreach Across Kerr County

Relief teams have been conducting door-to-door outreach and supply drops at several locations including:

  • American Legion Post 208
  • Kerrville Police Department
  • Local Fire Stations and EMS units
  • The Salvation Army
  • United Methodist Church (Hunt)
  • VFW, Comfort Town, Downtown Kerrville
  • Hispanic Baptist Church at 238 Broadway St
  • Local ranches and individual homes

The mission has extended across both sides of the Guadalupe River, overcoming logistical challenges to reach even the most isolated communities.

Community-Powered Relief Network

This massive effort was made possible by the collective strength of the Dallas,

Austin, and San Antonio Sangats, with donation drives hosted at Sikh Center San Antonio, Sikh Dharamsal of San Antonio, Euless Gurdwara and Austin Gurdwara Sahib.

In a coordinated act of solidarity, the Dallas Fire Department delivered a full truckload of vital supplies, extending essential aid to flood-affected neighborhoods. Volunteers from across Texas have stepped up in extraordinary ways.

UNITED SIKHS extends its heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals and families whose unwavering commitment to seva has made our disaster relief efforts in Texas possible. Volunteers lent their trucks for transport, opened their homes for logistical support, and carried out acts of service, from cooking meals to coordinating supplies.

At the helm of these operations are our dedicated leaders: International Humanitarian Aid Director Gurvinder Singh and Disaster Relief Coordinator Moninder Singh. They are joined by a remarkable team whose spirit and dedication have driven this mission forward. Each has answered the call to serve, standing not only as volunteers but as pillars of compassion, unity, and resilience.

Their tireless service has been instrumental in sustaining the mission’s momentum and reach.

UNITED SIKHS remains committed to the Sikh principle of selfless service. This mission is not only about delivering aid, but about restoring dignity, hope, and humanity in the face of disaster.
