On Friday, June 25, 2021, U.S. President Biden will be meeting with President Ashraf Ghani and Chairman Abdullah Abdullah of Afghanistan.  UNITED SIKHS has written to President Biden, urging him to secure commitments from the Afghan leaders to protect Sikhs and other religious minorities from persecution before the U.S. military forces are fully withdrawn.  Please read our letter here
“We appreciate U.S. President Biden’s commitment to helping the people of Afghanistan and efforts to protect those who assisted American forces, but we urge President Biden to consider the needs of the religious minorities who remain in Afghanistan.” stated Gurpreet Singh, CEO of UNITED SIKHS.  “Sikhs, Hindus, and other minorities have suffered deadly terrorism and religious persecution in Afghanistan.  A commitment from President Ghani and Chairman Abdullah to protect religious minorities and their places of worship is necessary.”
UNITED SIKHS continues to work and advocate for Afghan Sikhs and Hindus in Afghanistan and around the world.
