Your Future Matters!

VOTE on November 3rd

Dated: September 18, 2020

New York, New York

Election day is quickly approaching and not even 50 days are left for Americans to practice their Right to Vote and choose their next leader on November 03, 2020.

UNITED SIKHS urges all Americans to exercise their right to vote and make a difference in this important and historic election because you are not only selecting the President but also the state-government officials.

You may think that your single vote cannot make a difference, but trust us, it can! Altogether, when you join with others who are voting, you are taking the future into your own hands. Every single vote counts.

“Everyone should come out and vote because our President and leaders should feel they have legitimacy. This legitimacy can only be passed to them by a fair election in which the electorate is informed, empowered and votes,” Jasmit Jesse Jaspal Singh, UNITED SIKHS Advocacy Director states.

Voting is the best way to make your voice heard and it is your choice to make a better place for you in society by voting.

Voter turnout in the 2016 Presidential election was the lowest recorded in the last two decades. It turned out to be just 55 % of the voting population who cast their ballots in 2016.  The 2016 election Voter turnout data can be found at: https://www.cnn.com/2016/11/11/politics/popular-vote-turnout-2016/index.html

“I will vote because it is my duty and my right to help pick the best person for the job.  It is also as much my duty as serving on a jury, as joining the Parent-Teacher Association and as it is to reach out to my City Council and other government representatives to demand action on issues that are important to me and to vote them out if they are not responsive,” Wanda Sanchez Day, UNITED SIKHS National Legal Director said. “I encourage others to vote because the mandate to our future President and Vice President should not come solely from the approximate 55% of the voting population that in the past has participated in the national and local elections,” Ms. Sanchez Day  said.

“Voting is the most important job a citizen has. It is as important a responsibility as helping ones’ neighbor,” states Gurvinder Singh, UNITED SIKHS International Director of Humanitarian Aid.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, States have modified their policies providing a more secure alternative to in-person voting.  Depending on the geographical area, Americans have an option to  vote by mail-in ballot in the 2020 elections. As a result, mail-in ballot requests have increased significantly.

“We’re all in this together!  So, on November 3rd, VOTE, VOTE!”
