Dear Supporters,
As of now, 70 people have lost their lives in the struggle against the three “black laws” passed by the Indian Parliament. Leading to be India’s largest protest, the enacted laws may lead millions to starvation. We stand in solidarity with the families who lost their loved ones. Now is the Call to Action by writing to your Elected representatives to show your support to the Farmers protesting In India. It will take less than 30 seconds for you to send the letter to the Lawmakers.
Anti-Farm laws were rushed through the government without input from farmers. These laws will lead millions of farmers and their families to starvation. Tens of thousands of farmers from all across India have gathered on the streets to protest unfair treatment. Our voices in support of India’s farmers would lend support for the principle that in the US and around the world local farmers are indispensable to the social fabric of any country and must be supported and the deregulation of the providers of world food supplies harms us all.
We need more Congressional members to take action. Contact Your Congressional Representative and Ask Them to Support Farmers in India.
The Congressional representatives who have already spoken on the Indian Farmers:
Congressman John Garamendi showed his support at the UNITED SIKHS Farmers Rights Conference on 10th of Dec 2020.
“I support your efforts for peaceful demonstrations and successful resolution of the problems in India,” Garamendi said.
Congressman also sent a letter on December 4, 2020, to the Indian Ambassador to the United States, Taranjit Singh Sandhu, regarding the ongoing farmer protests in India.
We thank TJ Cox for his unyielding support at our Farmers Rights Conference.
“Sikh Americans, the Congress, and all Americans stand in Solidarity with their Punjabi brothers and sisters who are suffering at this point in time,” Cox said.
U.S. Congressman Robert Wittman has also sent a letter to the Indian Ambassador expressing great concern over the legitimacy of the recently proposed farm legislation that has caused global condemnation.
