Violence against women and girls remains one of the most prevalent and pervasive human rights violations globally. According to recent data, an estimated 736 million women or about 30% of adult women worldwide have experienced physical and/or sexual intimate partner violence, non-partner sexual violence, or both, at least once in their lifetime. This violence manifests in various forms including human trafficking, female genital mutilation, and child marriage.

The consequences of violence against women are exhaustive. It negatively affects women’s physical, mental, sexual, and reproductive health.

As the world observes the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, UNITED SIKHS stands in solidarity with the United Nations and all organizations dedicated to ending violence against women and girls. Our mission to serve humanity without discrimination compels us to advocate for the safety and well-being of women and girls, who are often the most vulnerable members of society.

UNITED SIKHS has been actively involved in promoting the rights and welfare of abused women through various initiatives and projects. One notable initiative is the International Civil & Human Rights Advocacy (ICHRA), which aims to advance the economic, social, and spiritual empowerment of minorities and marginalized groups, including women. ICHRA works to protect and enforce the civil and human rights of these groups, ensuring they receive the support and justice they deserve.

Additionally, UNITED SIKHS has participated in global campaigns such as the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence highlighting their commitment to ending violence against women and supporting survivors.

UNITED SIKHS remains steadfast in its commitment to combating violence against women and girls. We call on everyone to take a stand and work together to create safe environments for women and girls, where they can live in dignity and a recognition of the opportunities to reach their fullest potential.
