UNITED SIKHS Joins Global Efforts in Observance of International Day of Elimination of Violence Against Women

NEW YORK CITY, NOVEMBER 25, 2023 – As the world commemorates the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25, followed by the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-based Violence, UNITED SIKHS announces its participation in the global campaign under the theme “UNITE against violence of women and girls.” Our organization reaffirms its commitment to the global endeavor to eliminate all forms of violence against women.

The International Day for the Prevention of Violence Against Women serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges women continue to face worldwide. It is a day to reflect on the progress made in addressing these issues and to recognize the persistent barriers hindering the achievement of gender equality.

In alignment with the United Nations, UNITED SIKHS firmly believes that promoting gender equality and preventing violence against women are essential components of sustainable development. Our organization is dedicated to fostering a world where every woman can live free from fear, discrimination, and violence.

On this significant day, drawing on its international and national humanitarian and advocacy experience, UNITED SIKHS emphasizes the urgent need for collective action to address the root causes of violence against women. Our organization calls upon governments, civil society, and individuals to join hands in creating a world where women and girls can live with dignity, free from the threat of violence.

“We firmly believe in the power of unity and collective action to bring about positive change,” said Mr. Gurpreet Singh, CEO of UNITED SIKHS. “By joining the 16 days of activism, we stand in solidarity with individuals and organizations around the world, united in our commitment to putting an end to violence against women and girls, while also addressing the broader issues they face.”

UNITED SIKHS’ International Center for Human Rights Advocacy (ICHRA) recognizes the urgency and importance of addressing the issue of violence against women and girls. The organization is committed to promoting gender equality, human rights, and justice for all individuals, regardless of their background or faith.

UNITED SIKHS’ ICHRA aims to contribute to global efforts to eliminate violence against women and girls by highlighting the works of UNITED SIKHS in supporting women worldwide throughout the 16 days of activism. In addition to addressing violence against women and girls, UNITED SIKHS acknowledges the interconnected issues faced by women, including domestic violence, immigration issues, and divorce. These issues often worsen the vulnerability and challenges faced by women who have experienced violence.

UNITED SIKHS remains dedicated to fighting violence against women both in the US and elsewhere. Our organization’s UMEED 24/7 helpline offers frontline support and guidance to women in distress, providing assistance to those facing domestic violence, navigating immigration issues, and going through the process of divorce alone.

As we mark this day, let us renew our collective commitment to building a world where women and girls can live without fear, where their rights are protected, and where they are empowered to reach their full potential.
