In Commemoration of Bhai Kanhaiya Ji’s Sewa to Mankind, REGISTER ONLINE TODAY to Donate Blood When You Can.

June 14th is World Blood Donor Day. UNITED SIKHS has started an online campaign to register UK Sikhs as blood donors by joining the efforts of Sant Anoop Singh Ji and in collaboration with the UK National Health Service (NHS) and the World Health organization.

There are about 1.4 million active donors in the UK – comprising about 2% of the population. There are about 700,000 Sikhs in the UK, hence we are asking UK Sikhs to give their share of blood to their country of residence. Our target is to register 14,000 UK Sikhs as potential blood donors. If you are resident in the UK and you are the Giving Type, all you have to do today is Register NOW and donate when you can.

In the spirit of Sarbat da Bhalla (well being towards all), let’s follow the example set by Bhai Kanhaiya Ji, a sevadar in the army of the 10th Sikh Guru, Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who served water to wounded soldiers in the battle of Anandpur Sahib in 1704, with love and affection and without any discrimination between the Guru’s Sikh soldiers and the opposing Mughal army’s soldiers. In commemoration of Bhai Kanhaiya Ji’s selfless seva and in conjunction with World Blood Donor day , Sant Anoop Singh ji is presenting a blood donation registration appeal and Mahaan Gurmat Semagam at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha ,Havelock Road, Southall on 13th June 2009 between 5PM and 9PM or on 14th June 2009 between 11AM and 4PM. This semagam will be attended by Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat, Singh Sahib Giani Gurbachan Singh ji and the Sikh sangat from all over the UK. Click here for more information.

A generation after the Events of 1984, when thousands of innocent Sikh men, women, and children were killed in Panjab, Delhi and rest of India, UNITED SIKHS has started an online campaign to register Canadian Sikhs as blood donors.

There are about 400 000 active donors in Canada – comprising about 1.2% of the population. There are 400,000 Sikhs in Canada, hence we are asking Canadian Sikhs to give their share of blood to their country of residence. Our target is to register 4,800 Canadian Sikhs as potential blood donors. If you are resident in Canada and you are the Giving Type, all you have to do today is Register NOW and donate when you can.

About 2.5% of the American population donates blood actively. There are an estimated 500,000 Sikhs in the USA hence we are asking Sikh Americans to give their share of blood to their country of residence. Our target is to register 12,500 Sikh Americans as potential blood donors. If you are resident in the USA and you are the Giving Type, all you have to do today is Register NOW and donate when you can.
