London, UK: UNITED SIKHS in partnership with Sikh Australian Support for Family Violence (SASFV) invites you to the Healthy Families and Healthy Relationships workshops that will be held across the UK during October 2018. These workshops aim to support parents so that they understand and connect with their children and help them to achieve their potential while still caring for themselves in the process. The workshop is being presented by Jasbir Singh B.A. (Counseling Psychology), Senior Practitioner-Parent Resource Co-ordinator (ParentZone, Anglicare Victoria) is the Founder/Director of Sikh Australian Support for Family Violence (SASFV). The 3-hour interactive and holistic workshop is open to all mums, dads, grandparents and caregivers.
The program will cover the following topics:
- Discipline and Boundaries
- Understanding and dealing with your child/teen’s behaviour.
- Dealing with Feelings
- Helping parents and children, deal with anger, frustration and other overwhelming emotions.
- Effective Communication with your Child/Teen
- How to get your child/teen to listen to you without yelling?
- Childrens School Life and Resilience
- Understanding the problems your child/teen faces in school and to build resilience. (Bullying, Peer pressure, homework stress etc)
- Is your child spending a lot of time on tablet (internet)?
- Understanding the impact of internet and how to support your child set boundaries.
- Self-Care
- Importance of looking after ourselves
Being a parent is an important role, it can be rewarding, and also challenging at times. Come along to discuss experiences, ideas and learn new strategies in a relaxed and friendly environment.
