We are approaching staggering and sobering numbers in the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Almost 100 million cases worldwide with over 2 million deaths. The United States accounts for almost 25 million cases and just reached 400,000 deaths, the most of any nation in the world. That’s 400,000 families with an empty chair around the dining table.
Since the inception of UNITED SIKHS 21 years ago, this is our biggest humanitarian relief mission. Starting in March 2020, the New York city’s Office of Emergency Management approached us to serve 30,000 meals.
Since then we have served over 5 million meals around the globe along with supplying Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to thousands of frontline workers.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency in the United States recognized our relief efforts in spring of 2020.
“Given our consistent commitment to this unprecedented global crisis, we had a donor give us a very generous gift of 700,000 KN95 masks. Wherever they are put to use, these masks will go a long way in ensuring that countless more lives are saved”, said Jagdeep Singh, Chief Executive Officer of UNITED SIKHS.
“We will be distributing these masks in communities that need them the most, including shipping them to our volunteers in Kenya and Uganda, to name a few. The masks are heat sealed from the factory, one per pack, making them ideal for use in high traffic fast paced environments.”
UNITED SIKHS thanks the donor of these masks for their generous donation at this critical moment as the COVID-19 pandemic rages across the world.
As vaccination drives across the globe bring our medical frontline workers in close contact with others, the need for PPE supplies remains paramount in communities around the globe including the hard hit communities across the United States.
We are working with our global teams and volunteers to deliver KN95 masks to the following critical areas of need.
- Cities and police departments
- Assisted living facilities
- Health care centers and hospitals
- School districts in at risk neighbourhoods
- Houses of worship
We want to thank our donors and volunteers for their continued support of our mission and work. We are committed to serving the needs of communities as efforts continue to control the COVID-19 pandemic.
