UNITED SIKHS Congratulates President Biden and Vice President Harris on their inauguration.  The Biden/Harris Administration campaigned on addressing issues specific to the Sikh community and UNITED SIKHS welcomes the opportunity to work with the Administration.

UNITED SIKHS has written to President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.  Given the Administration’s commitment to combating the dramatic increase in hate crimes across this nation, we’ve provided recommendations on how to create national guidelines that could better categorize, investigate, document hate crimes, ensure participation from more local law enforcement and help train law enforcement and hold them accountable.  We’ve also urged the Administration to review the “No-Fly List” procedures and its direct impact on members of the Sikh community.  We’ve registered our concerns on the Supreme Court’s recent decisions and urge the Administration to ensure that religious freedoms are not used to suppress the rights of individuals, especially those who are members of disenfranchised communities.  Finally, we asked President Biden and Vice President Harris to stand with many of their colleagues in Washington and address the plight of the farmers in India with the Indian government to help resolve this humanitarian crisis.  We also hope that the Administration will use its influence to ensure that the Indian government respects the farmers’ right to free speech and to peacefully assemble.

Our work continues in this new year and with this new administration that has promised to address economic, immigration, justice and race law reforms.  We work diligently to ensure that the Sikh community has a voice in government with our help.
