New York, NY-: Persistent advocacy by UNITED SIKHS legal team culminated in a resounding win for Sikh rights. A Virginia based Sikh, who holds American citizenship, discovered he was on the “No Fly” list after he was stopped from boarding a flight back to the US on March 25, 2012.
After much inconvenience, he arrived back in the US where he was finally allowed to get home after 6 hours of gruelling investigation by the airport security officers.
The delay caused him a huge loss in personal finances and his employment. He reached out to UNITED SIKHS advocacy team for help.
After nearly 9 months of persistent advocacy, working closely with the US Department of Justice and Homeland Security, UNITED SIKHS was successfully able to get his name taken off the “No Fly” list. He was contacted via email by an official of the Office of the Legal Attache in the US embassy, New Delhi acknowledging the clearance of his name from the list.
As he rejoices having his freedom back just in time for the holiday travel, we would like you to fly with confidence as well. We are working very closely with TSA departments across the nation to create awareness and decrease the incidence of “random” screening against Sikhs.
UNITED SIKHS advocacy team is available for you 24/7, 365 days of the year to ensure the fight for your rights continues.
We humbly request your support to carry on with our mission in 2013.
Be safe and stay in Chardi Kala !
