For Sarbat Da Bhala (Betterment for All)

Malton, Ontario

May 9, 2023

UNITED SIKHS participated in Nagar Kirtan Sikh Parade organized from Malton Gurdwara Sahib to Rexdale Gurdwara Sahib to celebrate Khalsa Sajna Diwas, commemorating the formation of the Khalsa in 1699.

The Nagar Kirtan saw a large congregation of devotees that remembered the teachings of Sikh Gurus and formation of the Khalsa recalling the values of equality, courage, protecting human rights and recognizing the human race as one.

UNITED SIKHS organized the langar of chana samosa, RoofAfza milk, as well as mango juice, serving thousands of devotees who participated in the religious procession.

While partaking in the langar, the sangat also appreciated the initiatives of UNITED SIKHS around the world and Canada as well. Several of the devotees told our volunteers that they had been following the humanitarian relief work for the most vulnerable people in disaster and war-hit zones including the ongoing work in Ukraine as well as Turkey.

“The sangat showed a lot of warmth and appreciation, and also encouraged our volunteers to continue the good work. They also made generous donations,” Gurbir Singh, Director of Operations and Development at UNITED SIKHS Canada said.

Sukhwinder Singh, UNITED SIKHS Canada Director said, “Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru created the Khalsa to protect the underprivileged and defend human rights. Teachings of our Gurus keep inspiring us to follow the path they laid down for us. That is why, Sikhs keep the betterment of the community and humanity before personal benefit and self-interest. In sharing and caring, treating everyone as equal, following the values is central to Sarbat Da Bhala (betterment of all).”

We thank our donors for supporting us in enabling us to serve humanity in different corners of the world.
