UNITED SIKHS Commemorates 80 Years of the United Nations

A Legacy of Justice Human Dignity, and Global Solidarity

New York, NY | October 24, 2025

UNITED SIKHS joins the international community in commemorating the 80th anniversary of the United Nations – a milestone marking eight decades of collective action toward peace, human rights, and humanitarianism. This day honors the entry into force of the UN Charter in 1945, a foundational moment that established the world’s most powerful platform for global unity.

As the first Sikh advocacy, humanitarian relief and human development Non Governmental Organization associated with the United Nations through the Department of Public Information, UNITED SIKHS reaffirms its commitment to the UN’s enduring mission: to uphold human dignity, foster inclusive development, and respond to crises with compassion and resolve. From disaster zones to courtrooms, refugee camps to community kitchens, UNITED SIKHS has stood in solidarity with vulnerable populations – driven by a deep commitment to justice and shared responsibility.

Since its founding, the United Nations has served as a beacon of hope for communities facing war, displacement, and systemic injustice. For 80 years, it has convened nations, amplified marginalized voices, and advanced the cause of human dignity. UNITED SIKHS has long served in solidarity with this mission – serving on the frontlines of disaster relief, civil rights advocacy, and community empowerment across continents.

Since its inception in 1999, UNITED SIKHS has been at the forefront of fulfilling UN disaster-relief missions across the world. From hurricanes in North America to tsunamis in Asia, from the devastating earthquake in Haiti to the crisis in Ukraine , our volunteers have provided immediate relief aid as well as focussed on long term rehabilitation of the area and the people.

This year, UNITED SIKHS is leading humanitarian response efforts to the catastrophic monsoon flooding across Panjab’s border districts. The organization launched a rapid, coordinated campaign that reached thousands of displaced families. Volunteers deployed mobile medical units, distributed solar kits and food rations, and worked with local partners to navigate cross-border logistics. Diaspora-led initiatives raised awareness and funds, while youth leaders organized donation drives and global outreach. The response prioritized dignity, transparency, and resilience – ensuring that affected communities received not only emergency aid but long-term support for recovery and rebuilding. This effort stands as a powerful example of grassroots leadership and the enduring promise of global solidarity in action.

For over two decades, UNITED SIKHS has responded to crises with compassion, dignity, and resolve – living the mission of humanitarian service and justice. Each initiative reflects the organization’s alignment with the values enshrined in the United Nations Charter:
