It’s been almost nine months since the world was hit by the coronavirus pandemic. UNITED SIKHS, targeting students of various age groups is providing free educational tutoring programs in core subjects – Science, Maths and English. Accelerator programs such as software development, cyber-security and strategy, provide mentorship and enhance their skills under our Community Empowerment, Education and Development (CEED) Program. Programs are modelled according to the United Nations, Department of Economic and Social Programs, under their Sustainable Development Programs (SDGs), Quality Education and Decent Work and Economic Growth. To enhance these programs, fill out the Tutor Volunteer Form. To enroll into a learning program, fill out the Tutor Assistance Form.
UNITED SIKHS, under its In-person Assister Navigator and Tutoring Program, emphasizes on students adversely affected due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other socio-economic circumstances. The pandemic has adversely affected over 1.37 billion students across the globe i.e. every 3 out of 4 students. Our latest batch on Microsoft Excel commenced from Oct 11, 2020 and concluded on Nov. 1, 2020.
“The Excel Class was really helpful to me as I learned the basics of the Excel Sheet and how to use the functions in it. I was able to focus, was interested in what we were learning, and could understand what was being taught, which was a great job done by the teacher! She was a really great teacher and was very understanding, and went over any concerns during the classes; she was also really thorough with her explanations”, said Sehaj Sethi, a Grade 8 student.
More than 25 students in various age groups registered for the virtual course. Here’s what other students have to say about their experience. “It was really helpful to learn Excel Sheets, now as I need to use them in class. I am glad I’m ahead of my classmates. My teacher was very patient and helped me explain the concepts. Overall, I had a very good experience and am looking forward to doing other classes with her,” Gurjap Kohli, a Grade 9 student.
Our initiative has received a commendable response from both students and teachers alike. Tanvi, a Grade II student stated, “our teachers are super” expressing her fondness towards the intuitive teaching methodology using worksheets and jumble words. In another testimonial, a mother of a 5th grade student commended the English classes and said they were very helpful in improving their writing skills.
