Through its “From Food to Shelter Project,” UNITED SIKHS continues to provide essential assistance to families evacuated from Rasuwa District, one of the regions hardest hit by the disaster. Many displaced residents are currently living in temporary shelter camps in Bidur, approximately three to four hours from Kathmandu, after their homes were destroyed or submerged by floodwaters.
Recognizing the changing needs of affected communities, UNITED SIKHS has shifted its response from immediate food relief to supporting safer, warmer, and more dignified living conditions for displaced families.

Supporting Safer Shelters and Daily Needs
During the latest relief mission, UNITED SIKHS reached multiple shelter sites in Bidur to deliver materials and supplies tailored to the needs of displaced residents.
At Site 1, the organization delivered:
- 10 truckloads of crushed stone and 4 truckloads of sand to improve flooring in temporary shelters and reduce exposure to damp and unsafe living conditions.
- Educational and recreational supplies for children, including stationery, sketchbooks, and sports equipment.
- Sanitary pads and hygiene essentials for women.

At Site 2, UNITED SIKHS provided:
- Thermo water bottles.
- Electric kettles.
- Electric heaters for senior citizens residing in a temporary shelter after damage to their residential facility.

At Site 3, families received:
- Thermo water bottles.
- Sanitary pads.
- Sports equipment.
- Drawing and sketching materials for children.

The relief effort addresses not only physical needs but also emotional well-being. Educational and recreational supplies help children maintain a sense of normalcy amid prolonged displacement, while hygiene and heating essentials support the health and dignity of women and elderly residents facing uncertain living conditions.
As communities continue to recover from the floods and landslides, UNITED SIKHS remains on the ground delivering aid where it is needed most and working alongside local partners to support long-term recovery efforts.
