UNITED SIKHS Team Engages in Vital Discussions with Parliamentarians for Community Development and Upliftment

Mississauga, December 2 – Members of the UNITED SIKHS Canada team participated in a constructive dialogue at the ‘Friends of PCHS’ event organised by Punjabi Community Health Services (PCHS).

The event, attended by prominent community leaders, provided an opportunity for UNITED SIKHS team members to discuss crucial issues related to marginalized communities, the elderly, mental health, and addiction. The engagement was not only insightful but also allowed for an in-depth exploration of challenges faced by these communities.

Gurbir Singh, UNITED SIKHS Canada Director of Operations along with members Sukhminder Dhillon and Salma Baksh participated in the event. 

During the event, the community members actively participated in discussions, offering a firsthand account of the challenges prevalent in the community. The dialogue covered a range of topics, reflecting the diverse and complex issues faced by marginalized populations.

Notably, the presence of MP Shafqat Ali and MPP Deepak Anand provided a platform for constructive engagement with policymakers. The UNITED SIKHS team expressed their concerns and insights, advocating for positive change and proactive measures to address the identified issues.

“Our commitment to community well-being extends beyond events. We look forward to sustained collaboration with organizations like PCHS to effect positive change in the lives of those we serve,” Singh remarked.

“Our interaction at the Friends of PCHS event was invaluable. It allowed us to delve into the pressing issues affecting our communities and share our concerns with Members of Parliament and provincial parliamentarians,” he stated.

The collaborative efforts exemplify commitment of UNITED SIKHS to being actively involved in community affairs, advocating for the well-being of marginalized populations, and fostering positive change through open dialogue with policymakers.
