Community Advisory: Request for Community Input
Following meetings with federal, state, and local authorities, UNITED SIKHS is seeking community input to help identify and address issues affecting Sikh civil liberties, religious freedom, human rights, and equal access to public services. We welcome information from community members that detail personal experiences with discrimination, transnational repression, social media censorship and any of the issues noted below.
Your response may assist in raising public awareness, inform policy discussions, and advance legal advocacy. We invite comments regarding matters including, but not limited to:
- 1. Suspension, restriction, or permanent removal of social media accounts.
- 2. Employment discrimination or failures to accommodate sincerely held religious beliefs, including issues relating to the wearing of the Sikh Five Ks (articles of faith) in the workplace.
- 3. Refusal to hire due to immigration related or perceived immigration related status, including in the commercial driver (CDL) industry.
- 4. Placement on a “No Fly List,” or other travel related detentions, delays, secondary screenings, or difficulties or delays encountered at airports, border crossings, or ports of entry.
- 5. Restrictions or prohibitions on entering restaurants, hotels, hospitals, schools, government buildings, courthouses, or other public accommodations while wearing or carrying a Kirpan.
- 6. Restrictions affecting the ability to serve on a jury while wearing or carrying a Kirpan or other sincerely held religious articles of faith.
- 7. Any other circumstance in which you believe your civil rights, religious freedom, constitutional rights, or human rights have been limited, denied, or infringed upon.
Community members are encouraged to submit their comments for review and consideration to the UNITED SIKHS ICHRA Legal Center.

ਯੂਨਾਈਟਿਡ ਸਿੱਖਸ ਸਿੱਖਾਂ ਲਈ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਜਨਤਕ ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਸੇਵਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਭਨਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦੇ ਹੱਕ ਵਰਗੇ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਅਤੇ ਹੱਲ ਲਈ ਸੰਘੀ, ਰਾਜ ਅਤੇ ਸਥਾਨਕ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਮੀਟਿੰਗਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਬਾਅਦ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਤੋਂ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਮੰਗ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਤਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਕਰਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਹੱਲ ਲੱਭਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕੇ।ਸੰਸਥਾ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕਰਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿੱਜੀ ਤਜਰਬੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕਰਨ, ਜੇਕਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਭੇਦਭਾਵ , ਵਿਦੇਸ਼ੀ ਸਰਕਾਰਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਸੰਸਥਾਵਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਦਬਾਅ ਜਾਂ ਧਮਕੀਆਂ , ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ‘ਤੇ ਸੈਂਸਰਸ਼ਿਪ ਜਾਂ ਹੇਠਾਂ ਦਰਸਾਏ ਹੋਰ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਹੋਵੇ।ਸਾਡਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਸਿੱਖ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਦੀਆਂ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਝਣਾ ਅਤੇ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀਆਂ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਾ ਕੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਹੱਲ ਲਈ ਯਤਨ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ।
ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕੀਤੇ ਗਏ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਜਾਗਰੂਕਤਾ ਪੈਦਾ ਕਰਨ, ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਚਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਦੇਣ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਨੂੰਨੀ ਹੱਕਾਂ ਲਈ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਵਕਾਲਤ ਨੂੰ ਮਜ਼ਬੂਤ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਦਦ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਨ । ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਨਿਮਰਤਾ ਸਹਿਤ ਬੇਨਤੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਤੁਸੀਂ ਹੇਠ ਲਿਖੇ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਟਿੱਪਣੀਆਂ ਸਾਂਝੀਆਂ ਕਰਨ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ-ਨਾਲ ਹੋਰ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਆਂ ਉੱਪਰ ਵੀ ਆਪਣੇ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋ।
1. ਸੋਸ਼ਲ ਮੀਡੀਆ ਖਾਤਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੱਕੇ ਤੌਰ ‘ਤੇ ਬੰਦ ਕਰਨ, ਪਾਬੰਦੀ ਲਾਉਣ ਜਾਂ ਅਸਥਾਈ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਰੋਕ ਲਗਾ ਦੇਣਾ।
2. ਕੰਮ ਵਾਲੀ ਥਾਂ ‘ਤੇ ਧਰਮ ਕਰਕੇ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੇਦ-ਭਾਵ ਜਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਪੰਜ ਕਕਾਰ((ਕੇਸ, ਕੰਘਾ, ਕੜਾ, ਕਛਹਿਰਾ ਅਤੇ ਕਿਰਪਾਨ) ਨੂੰ ਧਾਰਨ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇਜਾਜ਼ਤ ਨਾ ਦੇਣਾ ਜਾਂ ਲੋੜੀਂਦੀ ਸਹੂਲਤ ਨਾ ਦੇਣਾ ਇਹ ਸਾਰੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਇਸੇ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ ।
3. ਇਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੰਬੰਧਿਤ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਜਾਂ ਇਮੀਗ੍ਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਨੀਤੀਆਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਗਲਤ ਧਾਰਣਾ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ‘ਤੇ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਦੇਣ ਤੋਂ ਇਨਕਾਰ ਕਰਨਾ ਜਿਵੇਂ ਕਿ ਵਪਾਰਕ ਡਰਾਈਵਿੰਗ ਲਾਇਸੈਂਸ (CDL) ਨੌਕਰੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਮਿਲ ਹਨ।
4. ਜੇ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਹਵਾਈ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਕਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਜਾਵੇ ਜਾਂ ਹਰ ਵਾਰ ਯਾਤਰਾ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਸ ਨੂੰ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਠੋਸ ਕਾਰਨ ਦੇ ਵਾਧੂ ਜਾਂਚ, ਲੰਬੀ ਦੇਰੀ ਜਾਂ ਸਰਹੱਦ ‘ਤੇ ਰੋਕ-ਟੋਕ ਦਾ ਸਾਹਮਣਾ ਕਰਨਾ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਤਾਂ ਇਹ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਵੀ ਇਸ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਣੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
5. ਕਿਰਪਾਨ ਪਹਿਨਣ ਜਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਖਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਕਿਸੇ ਵਿਅਕਤੀ ਨੂੰ ਰੈਸਟੋਰੈਂਟਾਂ, ਹੋਟਲਾਂ, ਹਸਪਤਾਲਾਂ, ਸਕੂਲਾਂ, ਸਰਕਾਰੀ ਦਫ਼ਤਰਾਂ, ਅਦਾਲਤਾਂ (ਕੋਰਟਾਂ) ਜਾਂ ਹੋਰ ਜਨਤਕ ਥਾਵਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਾਖ਼ਲ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਣਾ, ਪਾਬੰਦੀ ਲਗਾਉਣਾ ਜਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਵੇਸ਼ ਨਾ ਕਰਨ ਦੇਣਾ।
6. ਕਿਰਪਾਨ ਜਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਧਰਮ ਨਾਲ ਸਬੰਧਿਤ ਹੋਰ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨ ਪਹਿਨਣ ਜਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਰੱਖਣ ਕਾਰਨ ਜਿਊਰੀ ਦੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਵਜੋਂ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੱਗੀਆਂ ਪਾਬੰਦੀਆਂ ਜਾਂ ਰੁਕਾਵਟਾਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ।
7. ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਲਈ ਕੋਈ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਸਥਿਤੀ ਜਾਂ ਘਟਨਾ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹੋਵੇ ਕਿ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ, ਧਾਰਮਿਕ ਆਜ਼ਾਦੀ, ਸੰਵਿਧਾਨਕ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਜਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੀਮਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਉਸ ਤੋਂ ਵਾਂਝਾ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ ਜਾਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਉਲੰਘਣਾਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੈ।
ਸਾਡੇ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਸਾਰੇ ਭਾਈਚਾਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਪੁਰਜ਼ੋਰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ, ਸੁਝਾਅ ਜਾਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਵਾਪਰੀਆਂ ਘਟਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ , ਅਨੁਭਵ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਚਾਰ ਲਈ UNITED SIKHS ICHRA ਲੀਗਲ ਸੈਂਟਰ ਨੂੰ ਭੇਜਣ।
