Southall Meeting Addresses Sikh Student Welfare and Community Challenges

A special meeting was convened at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha Southall (Park Avenue) by UNITED SIKHS International and United Humanitarian Sikh Aid (UHSA), hosted by Director Narpinder Mann BEM. The session was graced by the presence of Singh Sahib Giani Kuldip Singh Garhgaj, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, who engaged directly with students, families, and community leaders to address pressing challenges faced by Sikh youth in the United Kingdom.
The meeting focused on addressing the severe challenges faced by students migrating to and residing in the UK, particularly the rising cost of living and its impact on their daily lives. Discussions also centered on employment and welfare, with emphasis on resolving issues related to job opportunities, education, accommodation, and transit for the youth. In addition, structural solutions were explored to provide meaningful support for affected students and their families who are undergoing distress, ensuring that their welfare remains a priority for the community.
The Jathedar commended the initiative of UNITED SIKHS International and UHSA, assuring full institutional cooperation in advancing these welfare efforts. He further appealed to Sikh organizations across the UK to actively participate and contribute to this cause. During the session, he personally interacted with impacted students and families, listening to their grievances firsthand.
Expressing gratitude, Sardar Gurmail Singh Malhi, Chief Sevadar of the Gurdwara Management Committee, together withย Sardar Surinder Singh and Sardar Baldev Singh, extended heartfelt thanks to the Jathedar and UNITED SIKHS for their dedicated efforts toward student and community welfare.
The meeting was attended by several distinguished dignitaries and community leaders, including Sardar Gurmail Singh Malhi, Chief Sevadar of the Gurdwara Committee; Mr. Lakhwinder Singh Pannu, UHSA volunteer, Sardar Harjit Singh Sarpanch, Vice President; Sardar S. Sangha, General Secretary; Sardar Paramjit Singh, Treasurer; and Sardar Baljit Singh Malhi, along with other prominent community volunteers whose contributions were vital to the success of the gathering.
