STATEMENT OF UNITED SIKHS IN SUPPORT OF THE 2026 SOUTH ASIAN SOLIDARITY LETTER DENOUNCING HATE RHETORIC
New York, NY – June 18, 2026
UNITED SIKHS is proud to join Asian Americans Advancing Justice ( AAJC), The Sikh Coalition, Hindus for Human Rights, the Muslim Public Affairs Council, and numerous civil rights, faith-based, and community organizations in signing the 2026 South Asian Solidarity Statement.
As an international civil and human rights organization, UNITED SIKHS has long advocated for the protection of civil liberties, religious freedom, equal opportunity, and the dignity of all people. Our work is grounded in the Sikh principle of Sarbat da Bhala “the well-being of all” and reflects our commitment to standing with communities facing discrimination, exclusion, or injustice.

History has repeatedly shown that when one community is singled out based on religion, ethnicity, nationality, immigration status, or perceived identity, the consequences extend far beyond that community alone.
The South Asian community is diverse, encompassing Sikhs, Hindus, Muslims, Christians, Jains, Buddhists, and people of many backgrounds and national origins. While our communities may differ in faith, culture, and experience, we share a common interest in ensuring that every person is treated with dignity, respect, and equal protection under the law.
UNITED SIKHS believes that public officials, institutions, and community leaders in all countries have a responsibility to reject hate, oppose discrimination, and promote policies that strengthen social cohesion rather than division. We support efforts that advance civil rights, protect religious freedom, combat bias and hate crimes, and ensure that all individuals can fully participate in society without fear of discrimination.

Awarded in the Queen’s Honours for charitable and community service, Director Mann and her work with UNITED SIKHS is rooted in decades of service on the UNITED SIKHS UK Helpdesk/Immigration Surgery, now operating under the name UNITED HUMANITARIAN SIKH AID.

UNITED SIKHS remains committed to working alongside partners across faiths, cultures, and backgrounds to build a society that is safer, more inclusive, and more just for all.
In the spirit of Sarbat da Bhala, we stand in solidarity with all communities affected by discrimination and reaffirm our commitment to justice, equality, and human dignity.
