UNITED SIKHS Online Punjabi Classes Reach More Than 1,000 Students

Peshawar / Hasan Abdal, Pakistan | August 2026

UNITED SIKHS is making significant progress in preserving the Punjabi language and strengthening Sikh cultural heritage through its Online Punjabi Conversation Classes, an educational initiative that has now reached more than 1,000 students across two Sikh educational institutions in Pakistan.

The initiative was launched in November 2021 at Guru Angad Dev Ji Khalsa Dharmic School, Peshawar, beginning with 40 students from underserved Sikh communities. The program was established with a mission to preserve the Punjabi language, strengthen Sikh identity, and empower children through education.ย

Preserving Language Through Education

Students receive instruction in Punjabi conversation, Gurmukhi reading and writing, Gurbani, Sikh history (Gurus’ Itihas), and Sikh values. The program combines live online classes with monthly learning activities, assignments, and interactive conversation practice to help students develop confidence in speaking, reading, writing, and understanding Punjabi.

Since its launch, more than 500 students at Guru Angad Dev Ji Khalsa Dharmic School, Peshawar, have successfully completed Punjabi conversation training.

Expanding the Impact

Following the success of the Peshawar program, UNITED SIKHS expanded the initiative to Punja Sahib Khalsa Dharmic School, Hasan Abdal. The classes are now successfully operating in both schools, with more than 1,000 students having been taught and trained in Punjabi conversation, reading and writing, Gurbani, and Sikh history.

This achievement demonstrates what can be accomplished when education, community commitment, and a shared vision come together. The journey, however, must continue.

Language is a vital part of identity, culture, and heritage. If young people are not given opportunities to learn and use their language, an important connection to their heritage can gradually be lost.

UNITED SIKHS is therefore inviting individuals, families, community members, philanthropists, organizations, and Sikh institutions to come forward and sponsor the Online Punjabi Conversation Classes.

Donate to Sponsor a Child. Preserve a Language.

By sponsoring a class or supporting a child’s learning, donors are not simply funding an educational activityโ€”they are investing in the preservation of a language and the cultural identity of future generations.
A child’s ability to read, write, and speak Punjabi, can become a lifelong connection to their heritage.
UNITED SIKHS encourages supporters to join this effort and help ensure that Punjabi continues to thrive among the next generation.

Your support can make a lasting difference.
