UNITED SIKHS volunteers found badly damaged houses that require immediate reconstruction and flood victims still need support in order to resume their normal lives after the floods.

UNITED SIKHS Kashmir Relief Team Leader, Amritpal Singh, who has been working on the ground, said: “We distributed blankets and food by indentifying people who need it first. We travelled to the areas where people had been stranded in their homes ever since the floods hit. More needs to be done as it will be a while before the flood victims will be able to resume to normal life.”
“We are grateful to the sangat of Sri Guru Singh Sabha Bangkok whose donations made it possible for us to fly 2100 blankets from Amritsar to Srinagar. And we are grateful to SpiceJet Airlines for giving us freight concessions so that the blankets could get to the victims quickly,” he added.
The UNITED SIKHS Kashmir Relief team has found that there are a number of homes in deprived areas which are in need of desperate reconstruction.

Amritpal Singh, Relief Team Leader said, “Flood victims will continue to need support because their homes are damaged by the floods and need rebuilding urgently.”
